“One team, one goal”, this is ACDI’s theme for this year’s summer affair. Last May 10,2008 Ace Conglomerate Distributors, Inc. (ACDI) – distributors of Nestle Products in South Mindanao conducts it’s yearly summer outing for their employees not only to treat them but also have the chance for all branches namely DAVAO, TAGUM & DIGOS to get together.
All were excited, wondered and puzzled on what will be the set up of this year’s summer affair since the organizer of the said event were very secretive about the details. Finally the day has come, at 7:30 am, ACDI DAVAO’s office (the meeting place), all employee’s gathered together waiting for the instruction from the organizer. Upon registering, each employee was given a specific color that will represent their group. While waiting, some were “chitchatting”, throwing jokes at each other and some were getting acquainted with each other. After an hour of waiting, finally the HR gives some instructions to group according to colors, select a team leader and get the first instruction to her. All were excited and in to the game despite the fact that each group consist of different people known to each other and newly acquainted.
After reading the first instruction all were rushing to get there first. The experience is like playing in the game “The Amazing Race” a popular game show in the TV. Some were ahead while some were left behind. Each team was thinking of the best strategy to win in the game. Maybe the purpose of this game is to test each team how far will they go as a team despite the many obstacles that they will encounter. The heat of the sun, a hungry stomach, those tired feet and legs, all these are just a few of these obstacles. The best part of this race are the four main games that really put to test the teamwork of each team. These are log walking, spider web, wall climbing and “kayaking”. All really try very hard to finish each game at the shortest possible time. The team who got the shortest time in each game plus the points earned on the first race was announced as the winner.
Win or lost at night, all were gathered to have fun and enjoy each moment of being there. Some were listening to the band while eating and drinking, some were dancing to the beat of the music, some go on swimming on the pool or the beach and taking some pictures and some were jumping on the trampoline. All were very happy and really have fun. I guess this is one unforgettable summer for the ACDI people.
